This creative writing assignment was originally designed for my grade 9 ecology science class but can easily be adapted for others.
It requires the students to create a story based around an important moral meaning like “Save the Environment”, “Don’t Cut Down The Trees”, etc. It’s meant to be something like the Lorax.

As you can see from my images, it allows the students to really get creative and artistic and brings in abilities not usually required in the science classroom like drawing and storytelling. As a result it engages students who usually have no interest in the subject but are required to be there.
Overall I’ve had tremendous success with this project and it has created some really fantastic stories.
